Not sure if mainland FACs are valid here but I understand the reverse is certainly true.

What's the current powder limit in NI and... to give me a very rough idea; how many rounds of, say, .308, would 5kg make up?
About 46 gr in each cartridge, 15400 grains in a kilo.

So 5 kg will do a bit over 1500 rounds.

Thanks for that. Did the mainland go to 15kg?

We can hold up to 15Kg of powder including an allocation for primers and loaded rounds without a licence on the mainland.

Anyone understand this form?

http://www.psni.police.uk/servlets31_9.pdf

I'm assuming that you're making a 'specific intent to make a one-off purchase'. i.e. you have to apply every time?

It doesn't state any limits for powder ~ or mention primers?

This is very different to our application, and ours lasts for three years from memory. You need to speak to your FEO for guidance and it is going to be a PITA if you need to do this every time you need to but some powder.

Yeah, tell me about! Thanks. From what I've read elsewhere, a lot of these applications take longer than a fortnight to process so when you finally get permission it's invalid and the RFD can't sell to you. What a ball-ache.

I suppose I could go down the route of getting a 'Licence'. This would require adequate, secure storage for the powder - but it would allow me to hold significantly higher quantities. 250 metric tonnes I believe! ;)

Off to research more...
