The average UK citizen is so far removed from the idea of being able to protect themselves with anything other then their hands, that you may as well be talking Chinese.

I reckon the average UK citizen is even afraid to do that. The crims have more rights and more power than us. You beat one up in your home and you're the one taking a holiday while they sue you for compo.
