Southern Gun Company New rifle

#1 Post by Daniel11 »

Hi, I just thought this might be interesting to some folks here:

(Also : http://www.southern-gun.co.uk/?page=page&item_id=127 )

This, coupled with asking SGC via email, says that they have adapted their lever release design to .223.
This is something I remember a lot of people asking about when the 9mm Unicorn was made a while ago.

Yours, Daniel smile2

The Super Unicorn has already been discussed on THIS thread, I think £5,000 is a bit steep hence the lack of excitement.

£5K - OUCH

At that price you could have the best of the best of the straight pulls out there, the best scope you can choose and possibly a spare upper too...and with straight pulls (to the best of my knowledge) the use of reloads does not void the warranty, plus I have yet to hear of ANY straight pull AR's blowing up in use

Hell, I bet for £5K it'd even be cheaper to buy the machines & tooling to make your own upper & lower receivers & build your own AR

Every gun i own, have owned and have read the manual for has a disclaimer saying that the use of handloaded ammo voids the warranty!

But yeah, £5k? Hmmm, no thanks!

It starts to make people like lantac look less expensive!

Saw it at Bisley and thought "cooor" heard the price, thought "naaah"

You're paying to cover the R&D costs obviously which is understandable but I wonder how different they can be from the 9mm?

I dont know for sure as I am not very experienced, but I would think some people would want it for CSR in the same way people used the 9mm for gallery rifle.

Well, for ONE thing I do hope they don't BLOW UP IN THE USERS HANDS; as the 9mm offering seems to be prone to such drastic failures

One failure in the field is hardly a trend of failures and the cause of the failure has always been a bit clouded. I know many people shooting the 9mm and have shot them myself without issues. I lost track of what happened over the one that was reported, was it ever sent for independent testing or analysis and what happened in the end?

One thing you can safely say about SGC rifles is they are robust, I get the impression I could hammer nails in with my Speed Master.

I know of a second one that has failed catastrophically and another that was returned following the involvement of solicitors.
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!
