FAC: How long from OK?
My application was effectively signed-off by my FEO in January (visit/inspection) yet I'm still waiting despite FEO 'prompting' it up the chain four weeks ago and my Club Sec phoning firearms branch to ask what's going on.
Time to get BASC involved?

Re: FAC: How long from OK?
Personally I would contact your firearms licensing department first thing monday morning. Enquire whether there is a reason for the delay and gather whatever information you can. Ask whether the department has a standard for new applications, say of 16 weeks or so. Offer to collect in person the next day if it has been approved to avoid any further wait.
There may be any number of legitimate reasons for delay. However, if you are still not getting a straight answer, are 100 per cent satisfied there are no skeletons in your cupboard (or anyone elses at your address), and that the delay is likely to carry on without action, THEN approach BASC or similar.
Good luck!

Re: FAC: How long from OK?
Bank holiday Monday  I hope mine doesn't take that long.
Re: FAC: How long from OK?
I was lucky that mine took about 6 weeks, but I do have a SGC as well so they already had a lot of my info on file. As has been said ring up and offer to collect, it has probably been signed and is waiting in a big pile to be posted

Forgot about the bank holiday thing. sign01
Unfortunately the process takes as long as it takes. Here in Lincolnshire it seems the bulk of the time is with paperwork physically being in transit, or awaiting a particular persons attention (who either isnt there or who waits for a certain day of the week / volume of applicants to action something).
Ive experienced both long delays and more recently incredibly prompt attention. In my opinion most licensing departments will lend a sympathetic ear to any polite enquiry. While most club secretaries have a good rapport with feos / licensing departments and the like, they have (quite rightly) no influence regarding anothers application - no favouritism!
Remember its a fact of life that the closer an applicant gets to fac issue, the more frustrated they become!

Re: FAC: How long from OK?
Thanks all (including those via PM) - I just hope my forthcoming variation will be quicker!
Re: FAC: How long from OK?
My certificate arrived 1 week after the feo visit. I asked what checks they would do now and she said they were done prior to the visit all was ok and the certificate would be issued within the week.
