Re: selling a firearm to a frenchman
Robert, SPIRE are coming down hard on me right now and insisting such parts are now part of Schedule 2 and must now be covered by a licence if they are to permanently leave the country which is a nuisance.

I have done it the other way on two occasions and purchased rifles in France and brought them back and the process couldn't have been easier. Unfortunately a visitor to this country will require a FAC so it's not possible or at least as easy for a Frenchman to buy a rifle in this country and return with it to France.
There is actually some information on the process and paperwork required in the back of the H.O. guidance to police document.
I think I interpreted correctly the first sentence of the post??
I know all of the process both ways and have organised quite a lot of imports/exports in the past...
A rifle is suhject to declaration here and, if it has been sold without declaration of transfer, the french owner is still presumed to be in possession and he can be in trouble if he cannot evident possession in case of a control. Agree it is unlikely to happen, unles circumstances such as home burglary.....
If a military calibre, the rifle is classified in 1rst category and need an Autorisation de Detention (FAC) and transfer can only be to a valid "Autor." owner, or subject to export under AEMG (Autorisation d"Exportation de Materiel de Guerre''
Even in the 5th category case, an export would be better under an AEMG, same for an import under an AIMG.

I don't doubt that you know the process R.G.C. but I don't think that for one moment anyone even hinted of doing anything improper.
