Our home club is the Grove, membership is GBP50/year for the first person and GBP35/year for a partner plus range fees at GBP12/shoot. We shoot everything from 25 yards (I think some of the shorter distances do not have range fees) 100-600 and 800-1200 yards at ranges in East Anglia. The Viking and I tend to do most of our Shooting at Barton Road just south of Cambridge on the M11 however the range at Thetford is an absolute gem, both are MoD ranges.
We are both NRA members so we do try and get down to Bisley from time to time however as Tomo points out, the commute from our area to the camp is a nightmare and we tend to head off at 05:45 to avoid the M25 car park.

We are so lucky at Diggle. £145 per year and no further fees. Comps organised every Saturday and Sunday covering just about every discipline.
Open seven days per week. Shooting at all ranges from 100 to 1000 yards with covered firing-points with concrete benches at 100, 300, 600 and 1000 yards.
Centrally heated range house, surfaced car park, proper toilets, kitchen etc.
Have a look at our new website www.diggleranges.com

The NRA Shooting Club at Bisley is £20 for a morning or afternoon (£40 for both) which includes the markers. They generally have 2-3 targets on Short Siberia and 2-4 at 600/900 on Century or Stickledown plus gallery rifle. The number of rounds you get depends how busy it is but I think you could do 60 in a morning easily except on the busiest days. There's at least a couple of shoots a month (generally Saturday or Sunday) plus guest days and the odd shoot at the running boar/running deer range.

It's an MoD range, and we were told the civvie clubs are being charged more to use government ranges.
Wow! It makes my club seem cheap! 100 quid a year, 12 shoots on MoD ranges, NO green fees!
And just for entertainment, pe4king and myself don't pay our subs till around August! Drives the secretary nuts, but makes us laugh!!
Aye, but if we tried to use the MOD range at Fort George it costs a fortune! Licence, lane fee & use of two Range Wardens on overtime.

Thanks for the info, guys.
I'm thinking that a chat with the NRA might be a good way to go. Then if I join, I could perhaps join up with some of the FB'ers and go to Bisley for a shoot.

Rub it in Vince why don't you! Surely the only good thing about Manchester

It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

If you are on the Cambridge side of things, I would suggest my club. It's the same ballpark for annual membership, we shoot the same sort of ranges (Ovenpaa has listed Barton Road and the Thetford ones already) but for way less than 20 quid a time.
I'm slightly biased though, I only live down the road, so it suits me rather well. How long would it take you to get to Cambridge?
