Inaccurate reloads
HI,
First post and I cant see an answer to this question in the history but forgive me if I've missed it.
I'm new to reloading, and I have an issue with accuracy on one size of round. I shooting a Tikka T3 in .243, T8 Reflex and Schmidt & Bender 8x56. I have been reloading with a Lee hand die set but have just taken delivery of a Dillon 550b.
I have loaded 78grn vmax, 75 grn Varmit (Hornady), 100 grn Sierra Game Kings, 90 grn Nosler Partition all of which are on the button and group within an 1MOA at 100 yards. I have fired 100 grain Norma Oryx and 100 grain Sako Gameheads and 58 grn Vmax too, again very accurate. The rifle has only fired about 300 roud from new.
I loaded into new Lapua Brass some with 105 grn Berger VLD with Hodgdon h4350, 38.3 Grns and some Hornady AMax 105 grns with h4350 and some with Vit N-165 and they go everywhere except where I wont them. I can't get them with in 2 feet of each other! where am I going wrong? I have checked the load, and the COL, Both spot on.
Im starting with the lightest load, 38.3 grns, could this be the probem? My next step is to increase this by a couple of grains and see if that makes a difference. I would appreciate any thoughts on this.
Gary

Welcome to the forum.
Is the barrel twist suitable for the weight of bullet you are using?
If you are increasing the load then do so in 1/2 gn increments

Re: Inaccurate reloads
It would appear your right, the word on google is anything over 100 grns, then 1 in 8. The T3 is 1 in 10.
Excuse me for a while, I need to pull 64 105 grn Amax and reload with 75grn Vmax.
Thanks.

The T3 definitely WON'T stabilise a bullet over 100gr - this is the voice of bitter experience who has 1000 silver scenars he cannot use!NoProDeluxe wrote:It would appear your right, the word on google is anything over 100 grns, then 1 in 8. The T3 is 1 in 10.

Re: Inaccurate reloads
I've found 87gr v max accurate in my tikka 243 with a near max load of h4350. Might also be worth checking your seating depths as seemed to make a big difference in mine
Re: Inaccurate reloads
I agreeThe 105 gn bullets are the problem. Even some 100gn seems a bit borderline with some .243's with 1 in 10 unless you are pushing them along at the upper limit.

Rog,
Although I mainly use the 105g scenar in the 6br, I can vouch for the 90g Scenar's effectiveness out to 600yds. Would you like some to try?
