Rifle weight limits

#1 Post by ovenpaa »

F Class all up weights are 8,25kgs for F/TR and 10,0kgs for F Open, S Class is 6kgs. Can anyone tell me the weights for any other classes such as TR, MR (I think this is down to barrel weight only) Also the different BR classes, also for the .22 BR Class.

Anything I have missed as well would be good.

Many thanks.

UK TR 6.5kg all up
ICFRA TR no limit
UK MR barrel max 2.5kg (it's a little more complicated than that - see NRA Rule 156)

Many thanks Iain. Rule 156 has filled in a few more blanks so now I need some Bench Rest weights.

Anyone?

I would think Gunpimp will be the man to ask for BR info, might be worth dropping him a PM mate

Probably not much help but rule of thumb with a battle rifle I believe is to be able to hold it in one hand at arm's length for a minute without starting to wobble.

Benchrest (centrefire)

100/200/300 yds Light Varmint: 10.5lb incl. scope. Heavy Varmint: 13.5 lbs incl.scope
600 & 1000 yds Light Gun: 17lbs incl. scope. Heavy Gun: - anything over 17lbs - no maximum.

Rests must not be attached to the rifle - so are not included in the rifle weight.

Thanks Vince. I seem to remember a factory or factory sporter class as well? Do the same weight limits apply?

The Factory Sporter Class is peculiar to the UKBRA. It's for 'out of the box' factory rifles and we don't impose a weight limit though it wouldn't be permitted to blatantly add weight!

The Unique Alpine is one of the heaviest factory rifles - about 9kg - so way over limit but we wouldn't DQ it as Factory Sporter is intended as an entry-level class to get shooters interested in benchrest shooting.
