Magazines coming under scrutiny?

#1 Post by SevenSixTwo »

My FAC was in the bag (or so I was told)...

My Firearms Branch are now questioning why I need six (6) magazines for my .308. They feel six is "excessive" and want me to justify (which I have done) such a "high" quantity.

FYI, the mags just happened to be listed on the sales invoice together with the firearms (or "weapons" as they refered to them) I was buying.

I would assume they do know that they're not restricted items - and that I could potentially buy a billion of them online. Weird.

I daren't tell them the rifle is 'black'... :squirrel:

Some suggested headings for your letter

1. Expense of re-supply
2. Four needed for SR/Practical disciplines
3. There is no reason in law for them to object
4. Spares required as they are tempremental pieces of sporting equipment.

Don't let them bully you.

Oh don't worry, my response was polite but firm. I just thought that I'd flag it up here in case this was becoming more prevalent.

That is all you need to reiterate.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I'd have told them to bog off!

What an odd thing to query, I must have a 15-20 magazines in the house, in fact I can see 3 from where I am sitting. Which region are you in?

BASC will be interested to hear this one, e-mail it to firearms@basc.org.uk Bill Harriman will be very interested!

Membership is not a pre-requisite as the link is freely available on the BASC website.

Stuff like this cannot go unchallenged!
