Posting without being shafted.
I need to post a deactivated firearm which weighs, together with the box, 15kg.
Typical quotes I had from couriers (via Parcel2Go) were well over £400!
So, can anyone recommend how I should get it to the buyer without being bent over on price?
Royal Mail won't carry such a large item/weight and Parcelfarce don't permit deacs/components or anything related.
Any tips appreciated. :)

Forgive my stating of the 'bleedin obvious', but I presume delivering it is out of the question? Or delivery via the FBUK 'grapevine'?
Re: Posting without being shafted.
I have used a company called HERMES on a number of occasions with no complaints. They pick up from your house which is an added bonus.

Is it £400 because of what it is?
How about contacting a proof house and ask how individuals send in guns?
How about using an RFD?
HTH?

DM: I'll try them but Hermes are listed with Parcel2Go
Tony: It's that price mainly due to weight (see above) and requires insurance for £1k+

It looks as though that might be the only way - but who do they use? Must be someone? This isn't even S5 or even S1 or S2 - it's a lump of metal.
I'd like to avoid using a middleman and its associated costs.
The frustration is that every courier seems to state 'no weapons/firearms of any description and/or parts thereof'. I even went to a Post Office earlier to clarify and they said the same thing (and that their policy with 'gunz' had now changed). So much for the petition...

Re: Posting without being shafted.
I have moved a lot and they have brought a lot to me without them knowing exactly is in the box. Parcel Force certainly have brought a lot from the customs clearance with the exact contents printed on the outside of the box.

Parcelforce and TNT are fine about moving firearms.
