Re: .223 mag inserts
The Bremmer AR15's have the M261 kits fitted, Norman Clarke's bought all the old spares when Parker Hale went so you could try them for inserts, they do pop up for sale occasionally plus there are loads in the US now that everyone is upgrading to BDM mags.
Re: .223 mag inserts
I used to have a deactivated .22 Bremmer, it was a nice rifle. Thanks for the tip off, I've e-mailed them, we'll see if I get a reply.
I'm also trying to get in touch with these people as they seem to have them.

Just out of interest what's so good about the BDM's that would make people consider them an `upgrade`?

Re: .223 mag inserts
All I'm after is something identical to this for .22. It seems strange to me that manufacturers think there isn't demand for them...

Re: .223 mag inserts
I think they are aluminium billet rather than steel.saddler wrote: My SGC has the 25-rd mags.
Solid steel - possibly of enough mass to break toes if they get in the way & you happen to eject a mag without catching it
Here are some of my .22 LR Mags:

The one on the left is for the M261 Conversion, as can be seen the round is presented lower and further forward than the Ciener Kit Mags. And having just tried one in CMMG upper and Bradley Arms BAR-22 the M261 mags wont even fit as the .22LR Barrel extension on the Ciener comes too far back as shown below, Top is a CLE M261 Conversion Dedicated .22LR HP SR Upper, lower is a CMMG Goverment Profile 20" .22LR Upper:

Closest you'll get is something like this Billet Mag from BDM, considered by some to be the finest .22LR Mag available at $65.00 a pop, I am lucky enough to have 4 of them.

Someone on here has used a PMag shell slipped over a BDM Mag to get a better 'look' for their .22LR, he might be along soon.

HALODIN wrote:"...says who?" --> Says me based on everything I can find... Just to confirm then, your SGC 25 round steel mags are they .22 mags or do they have the .22 insert? Any chance of a couple of pics?
EDIT: Is it one of these?
or this one?

My SGC has the 25-rd mags.
Solid steel - possibly of enough mass to break toes if they get in the way & you happen to eject a mag without catching it
The different .22 conversion kits & dedicated uppers ALL use a mag design/feed angle unique to each design - as I am in the opposite quandry of not being able to find BDM V-22 magazines in the UK - just the M261 type and the others that they offer...
The second photo shows the magazines that I have - long curved type
Just checked, not magnetic = so must be Aluminium as JohnMH said. Still VERY heavy...
Re: .223 mag inserts
Thanks for the info and pics, that's cleared it up for me. Yes a mag cover over a BDM might be short term fix for me. Hopefully whoever did the work will notice this thread.
Thanks for your help.

Re: .223 mag inserts
You should consider the EVO Mag from CMMG work well in my BAR-22 and CMMG Uppers. Available here:

Re: .223 mag inserts
Thanks for the links, although I'm told they don't work very well in the ST-22's, but the BDM's do apparently.
