.45 ACP Short range scope: recommendations
oomans,
What would you recommend as a scope for us? We're looking to mount a telescopic sight on a carbine that will fire big, slow rounds - .45 ACP - out to 300 yards maximum. Most of the time it will be used at 25 and 100 yards. We have some nice 6x42 German glass on our battle rifles but think we may need something different for this application, perhaps with plenty of stadia to correct for bullet drop as the range increases. We'd zero it at 100 yards...

Re: .45 ACP Short range scope: recommendations
Yes, we have one of those...
We don't think it's worth putting a Zeiss Zielfernrohr 10-25 x 56 on a rifle that's only going to be used out to 300 yards so we're looking at low cost scopes here. The recoil will be low, so even a budget scope will probably be fine. We think the amount of adjustment on the reticules and the ability to have offset aiming stadia will matter most.

Nikko Sterling Targetmaster might be ok. Not bad on my Marlin and cheap enough!

Yes, ooman, those reticules look useful. Shame they don't seem to do a fixed power scope though, we prefer those to zooms...

The 4x24 (400m rangefinder) was the one I had on my Saiga and I was happy with it.meles meles wrote:Now those look useful ! Especially the 400m Simonov rangefinding reticules.
