had a go with a 45-70 today with its 300 nitro grain makes my .22 look sad with its 40 grain
good fun tho

I run a 45/120 and it gets black powder exclusively , it's the only way you know !

What recipe are you using? About to start reloading for my 45/70, interested in range rather than tamer recoil..

405g jacketed head over 110g of Fg black powder with a magnum LR primer (i cant get 120g of black in unfortunatley , even with a 1m drop tube!)
