Tommy Atkins goes plastic.....
So the old Hi-Power gets retired and the supplimentary Sig's go onto other duties, the standard sidearm for the British military is to be the Glock 17.
Ugly, damn ugly, but works. My mate was involved with the selection process and there were some good pistols in there, but as he said, there's no disputing Glock does the job........ and helped that Glock is already entrenched in the UK with the police.

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Some good news....the Armed Police have been using Glocks for ages wtfwtf so why not the Army
Now the Ye Old Browning is an awesome firearm don't get me wrong...its just lacking some of the newer features that even some shooters pre 1997 were used to. Plus the Police having more up to date firearms (G3's, Steyr AUGs, P90's, G36cs) was starting to bloody annoy me
. Now if they'd only they could afford to buy a new assault rifle the I'd be happy :shakeshout: preferably in 7.62 NATO or even .300 Blackout
Like the Honeybadger

Re: Tommy Atkins goes plastic.....
I used to shoot a 17 and if i had to rely on a semi auto pistol it would be a glock, :goodjob:

They say that the Brownings will be knackered but I don't think they every got that much of a hammering. We were a unit that held a lot of pistols and I don't suppse they had more than a 100 rounds down them a year. Admittedly that was with 2Z ammunition but as I say only for a few rounds. Wonder what they'll do with the Brownings?

Reserve units first, I'd suspect, then off to Bangladesh for a fiver a piece.......Watcher wrote:Wonder what they'll do with the Brownings?
