My certificate expires on 11/01/13, put in for renewal in november and new one arrives yesterday valid FROM 11/01/13
question is can I buy any bullets, sell or buy firearms now or do I have to wait until the 11th which I guess is the correct procedure ? albeit the previous cert was up to the 11th
Just a bit awkward methinks

Re: query
For a renewal you should not send in your old certificate as it is still valid 'till the expiry date. The police have no requirement for it to renew and issue a new certificate.
So if you have held on to your old one you are good to go 'till the 11th when your new certificate will take over.

Re: query
I tend to send copies of my unexpired certificates. Last time, I scanned and printed them out but decided to reprint and black and white as the colour copy was excellent and did not show any of the anti-copying watermarks!

Hi Douglas
Remember S15(1) Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988 as amended applies (you are a target shooter, yes?). So you can possess ammo (and other things but this is the most useful) at and in connection with club activities without a FAC. So if you want to go shooting and haven't any ammo, just buy it off someone (anyone at all that owns it legally) at the club.
