perhaps the police should have charged the owner of the wheelie bin for receiving stolen goods / being in illegal possession of a firearm. It would have helped the clear up rate...

Maybe it was some antis trying to get some guns off the street :roll:
A question though. How is the owner covered when it comes to insurance? If the guns are insured with a separate policy which the owner was conforming to, I would have thought he would have a valid claim. If they were not insured separately, would their car insurance cover them? Could they get out of a claim by saying they don't allow the carriage of firearms under the policy.

badger, good posts, why blame the victim, it's happening WAY too often these days.!
Simple precautions of course. Guns in boxes same with ammo and chained into the boot in some way. Even without anchoring there is no way anyone would be able to carry that lot off in a "chance" theft".
Come down HEAVY ofn the theives, 5 year mandatory to start for being in possession then everything else consecutively!
