And on a lighter note.
O little town of Bethlehem,
How still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by;
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight.
For Christ is born of Mary,
And gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love.
O morning stars, together
Proclaim the holy birth!
And praises sing to God the King,
And peace to men on earth.
How silently, how silently,
The wondrous gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of his heaven.
No ear may hear his coming,
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive him, still
The dear Christ enters in.
Where children pure and happy
Pray to the blessed Child,
Where misery cries out to thee,
Son of the mother mild;
Where charity stands watching
And faith holds wide the door,
The dark night wakes, the glory breaks,
And Christmas comes once more.
O holy Child of Bethlehem!
Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin and enter in,
Be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us,
Our Lord Emmanuel!

Oh well, how could I not be convinced by such a compelling counter....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guide me, O thou great redeemer,
Pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but thou art mighty,
Hold me with thy powerful hand;
Bread of heaven, bread of heaven
Feed me till I want no more;
Feed me till I want no more.
Open now the crystal fountain
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through:
Strong deliverer, strong deliverer;
Be thou still my strength and shield;
Be thou still my strength and shield.
When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Death of death, and hell's destruction
Land me safe on Canaan's side:
Songs of praises, songs of praises,
I will ever give to thee;
I will ever give to thee.
No particular reason for posting the (English) lyrics to Cym Rhondda, I just like the tune. :55:

Can't see what was wrong with teaching kids the 10 commandments. Expecting ALL parents to teach kids right from wrong is just a dream and cannot be considered as a viable solution. No one is perfect and some parents should never have had kids.
Nothing wrong with teaching people not to kill etc. The Bible contained lot of good advice for times when a law system was still very arbitrary and subjective. Yes it is open to corruption, just like LAW today. BTW: all our laws are in BOOKS!
762 reckons it's tosh - fine that's his opinion and he has a right to it - but just MAYBE if some brat was scared sh1tless at an early age about NOT killing because of what "would" happen it might just work.

Political Correctness is the language of lies, written by the corrupt , spoken by the inept!

Agreed. Limp-wristed, liberal sentencing has a lot to answer for...
Kids are intelligent (and, significantly, 'empowered' by the modern world - whether we like it or not) so I'm not convinced they fall for the 'hellfire and damnation' scare tactics now.
