Ditto with Grant at the same time....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Did the same thing with the Brococks, thousands of law abiding citizens made criminals overnight.

Considering the hammering the SNP is taking over EU membership, I can't say I'm surprised by the timing of this.

I'm in two minds as to buy the air guns I want before this comes into effect or sell mine and get an FAC air gun instead.

Well, it seems to me that

1. The Scots need to take hold of their government and lower league politicians if they don't want their worst nightmares to come true.

2. Europe is only making it difficult for Scotland as a consequence of making it difficult for other, bigger separatist aspirations in mainland Europe.

3. If this air rifle thing comes through it is unlikely to affect the big bucks hunting shooting tourism trade from beyond these Isles.

4. Of legitimate air sporting interests from within these Isles, a certain percentage is likely to say "go stuff yourself" and simply not bother returning north of Hadrian's Wall.

5. Like all these things, there will be zero impact on the criminal/lowlife communities.

6. Therefore the impact is going to fall on honest, respectable and law-abiding residents of the Scottish Regions. Please refer to point 1.

What next? Individual counties deciding on whether an airgun can be used in that area? My airguns are owned in accordance with UK law and as such I should be able to use them anywhere in the UK (where I have the landowner's permission) without firther interference.

The campaign to tighten air gun controls gathered momentum after the death of toddler Andrew Morton in Glasgow in 2005, who was shot in the head by a drug addict
The addict was given the gun by the kids parents, both low life druggies and jakies in their own right and with (if I recall correctly) previous criminal records, the hubby/boyfriend was a pusher. The druggie was initally shooting at firemen puting out a bonfire or something The PARENTS and druggie friend were responsible for the kids death, not the airgun!.

No one asked WHY the kid was out so late at night without supervision, which I understand is an offence in itself; maybe child neglect?? Whatever.

What we have is in fact unfit parents exposing their kid to danger and politicians making capital out of dead kids as usual.

The PARENTS should have been in court for numerous offences but as usual only the law abiding will be affected - such is the world today!

Air guns are not as much a problem as footie violence but since footie is all important in Scotland nothing will be done about it. If gun violence equalled footie violence in Scotland then guns would be long gone! This is all about VOTES and creeping total gun bans, not safety or any other bullsh1t excuses. You can bet the tragic events in the USA will also be used to justify this crap.

Don't tell me Chuck - that shooting was a conspiracy too by Salmond to get airguns banned?

Not quite....the right noises are being made to push for close to a total ban on ALL firearms....it just happens to be that airguns are first on their sh!t list

And that wouln't surprise me in the slightest....

I actually have a letter from Alex Salmond from 1996 in regards to Dunblane and the then propsed legislation. In there it states that outlawing all ownership is an SNP goal....

They do have problems North of the border but rather predicably don't have the right solution.

About 10 years ago I was working in Glasgow. We were told not to wear our Hi-Vis jackets in the yard/card park because of a sniper in the tower block opposite. Why they just didn't go and sort him out John Smeaton style was beyond me.
The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.
