US Gun Shows

I'm off to the US again this week and I've found a gun show on in Gainsville, GA, about a 50 mile drive from where I'm at in Atlanta.

Are gun shows in general worth a trip, is there going to be much I can buy and bring home? Or should I just find a local range and blat a few zombies instead?

I went to the Tulsa show.
You could, if you were knowledgable. certainly make it financially viable.
How? I'll leave that to you to research and take chances as I had to.

majordisorder, I visited a few last time in Arizona, I'll be at a few early new year too. I find them interesting in that there is so much that we don't see here - as yet. New accessories that you don't need but must have etc....you know what I mean.

It is also a bit frustrating that we cannot have so much of what they have

As for bringing stuff back, aye well that's in the hands of the TSA right now. If you've been before your case will be unlocked when you check in for the return flight and if they look inside they might not be happy so keep it simple. Stuff that is overtly military they will have issues with, sporting use is usually OK. Best see if it comes with some kind of document saying it is not restricted in any way.

I used to keep a copy of my FAC and NRA Instructor card in case they asked why I was buying stuff, but they never did.

Maybe would have been best to figure out what you're after and check first but you've left it late.

I'd still blat some zombies though.

Well if Jeff's haul that he brought back is anything to go by i wouldn't worry too much about TSA I assume the pack horse was in the back garden when i visited :lol:

It's not the TSA as such that you need to worry about, there's nothing much in my "slightly large 86Kg" of goodies that's on the ITAR list, guns, live ammo, powder and primers are a big NO with the TSA unless you have the relevant documentation/export license which is covered by the BATF. All I can say for the TSA is that I've personally never had a problem with brass or bullets in checked luggage.

And Mark, you know lots of that stuff was yours!, and as for the pack horse, Jared is still fast asleep in his bed, his body clock does not adjust very well!.

And, went to pick up my guns from Adam today and saw the 9mm, bolt is missing the firing pin assembly and the guide that orientates it in the top channel, have emailed Shooting Supplies and told them to come take it back as it was only supposed to be returned if it was complete, still no reply after 6 hours.

I was at the Tulsa show :)
I was wearing my WWI French uniform there and had a big display of WWI French weapons and equipment there :)
