Have to say I'm very happy with my Lee breech lock and turret presses, they are both the cast version, heavier and better suited to my needs. The Load Master progressive I have for .44 only uses 3 stations, powder throw (with pro powder dispenser), bullet seat and factory crimp. The priming system on it I find unusable so de-prime and FLS using the breech lock followed by case prep and prime using an RCBS universal hand prime.
The .308 loaded on the breech lock gives me 1/2moa or better using either Lee or RCBS dies.

There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)

Never undersstood the dislike some people have for Lee equipment-including those who actually admit to never having owned any! Its keenly priced gear and has never tried to be anything else. I can churn out accurate ammunition which dont bust the bank so im happy.

I have Lee, Lyman, Redding, RCBS and CH equipment, some of which is 40yrs old. No preference and no problems with any of them.

+1. Like Fred there I have various equipment as well, although my go to press is my RCBS I also have a small Lee press on my bench. It's good for the few things that I do and does what I want it to do. When it comes to the dies though, well most of my dies are Forster dies with the micrometer bullet seater. I have one Lee collet die and it does what I want it to do. I have tried Lee dies in the past and sure they'll load rounds, but they are certainly not the best dies out there for consistency.FredB wrote:I have Lee, Lyman, Redding, RCBS and CH equipment, some of which is 40yrs old. That is simple, these people are the same about everything.Never undersstood the dislike some people have for Lee equipment-including those who actually admit to never having owned any!
If it is not expensive, it just has to be crap. So to them a good deal is junk without looking.
You know a $400 press just as to be better then a $100 press, just because it cost more.
Re: Lee kit - split thread.
I've owned various bits of Lee gear and found it to be a bit of a mixed bag if I'm honest; some items seem to be great despite the competitive pricing and others seem to suffer a little bit too much from it.Steve wrote:It's keenly priced gear and has never tried to be anything else. Positive: I'm really impressed with the Lee hand press as it's a great bit of kit and I use one to make the vast majority of my ammo (neck-sizing and bullet seating) and only need to resort to a bench-mounted press when I need to FL size my cases. Ditto their case trimmer; really easy to use with a powerdrill, does a great job and cheap as chips.
So-So: Their powder thrower is OK, but a bit more rickety than I would like and doesn't seem to throw charges which are quite as consistent as the RCBS offering.
Negative: On the other hand, their hand priming tool is a piece of junk. The toggle linkage / transfer bar snapped on mine and after this was replaced, the handle snapped off. It got replaced with a hand-me-down RCBS hand priming tool which is now about 16 years old and still going strong.
