Went Looking For A Christmas Present....

#1 Post by Sim G »

So, thought I'd treat myself to a pressie for the festive season. Nowt elaborate, but something a little fun. Not a huge budget, 5 to 600 quid, but certainly "huge" to me...

So, I trawl a few places. Nowt, nothing, niet, nada, niche. Not a sausage took my fancy. Mainly as it seemed like the same old, same old, and feck me, where do some people get their "pricing" from? On top of which, there are some real miserable people who stand behind the counters of gun shops. No doubt miserable because they appear to know little about their subject matter.

Is the "gun trade" dead? Do we have to suffer the couple of companies wares, pushed onto us by one importer? (I'm sick of the sight of CZ and over priced Remingtons.....)

Anyway....... looks like I'll buy a new mountain bike instead!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Tell you truth Grant, I was open to just about anything but probably looking for a little out of the ordinary....

Got well cheesed off with looking at screwcut Remington, CZ and Beretta 686's of one variation or another! As a matter of fact there was very little second hand on dealers shelves as well...... And, why do they thnk that a second hand rifle with a mediocre scope and moderator on makes that rifle worth more than a new rifle? And, no one wants to deal or haggle! "That's the price mate....." OK, this is now bike money...!

Ah, I'm just ranting as it was a thoroughly disappointing experience.

So the recession is a myth then? Did you ask Adam (or any of the other vendors) if they had anything tempting?

New bike it is then - I got a Carcano as a present for myself!

No, it looks like the recession is the cause of it. Importers whacking up their prices, dealers having to cover more costs with the sale of one gun. Joe public not swapping guns around and so no part ex's on the shelves....

All in all, private and shop dealers want more for their guns. Like me, not everyone has money to throw around and will "value" a gun accordingly. Regardless, some are just asking rediculous prices....

Anyway. 2011 Cube Pro. Hardly used. 950 new, 450 or there aobuts! A far better bargain!

Fair enough, hadn't thought it that way.

I myself just bought myself a nice mountainbike, and within 8 miles the right crank arm has threaded itself!! thats what you get for buying a barely used 2011 model off a mate! Doh!

Enjoy the bike, and don't fret it.... something that goes bang will crop up at some point :)
