It was NEW as far as I could tell Paul...Other AR alikes were similarly priced, at around $500ish PLUS tax of course.

Had a look again at the ones in Century Gun Shop in Naples FL, they're ticketed at $629.00 plus 6% tax.

Here are some blurry close up photo's from my 'phone, first one showing the ejection port, second one the receiver slot.

Cheers

Just had an email from the Tunnel Sports Centre in Dorset, they've just received their first shipment, retailing at £499.99 not the £750 I've seen them advertised for elsewhere!

I had a short play with one on Thursday morning fresh out of the box, pretty heavy piece of kit, not sure where they sit in the market though, not my cup of T

Hi gents, this is my first post on here so hello to all.
I have pondered over this GSG STG 44 for months and pestered my club to get one in. So the club got me one and after much waiting and deliberation, I took ownership today of possibly one of the first ones in the UK.
The gun is amazing to handle. Yes the ports are smaller. Yes the gun is not stamped steel. AND yes they cheapened out on the plastic mag. BUT the gun is sooo heavy it just feels right. It stays on target perfectly, grouping 10 rounds in about 2cm's. I feel it would be tighter with someone who could actually shoot, unlike me.
There were some teething problems though. The crap plastic mag has a spring relief thumb grip to help you load. Pull it slightly too far down and the rounds fall into an abyss and knot the mag up. To fix this we had to strip the mag apart as the access port on the bottom is fake and it was an believable pain in the bum to put back together. Then I found the gun hates Remmy Golden Bullet rounds. It jammed and misfed every 3rd or 4th bullet. I quickly began to dislike my new STG, then I tried Federal Gameshock and CCI MiniMag. Wow the gun was transformed. It spat the rounds down range at whatever pace I felt like, fast, slow and anything in between. No jams, no misfeeds, nothing. Just excellent fun mag full after mag full. So in conclusion, once the crap mag was mastered (come on GSG get this sorted and offer metal ones) and the correct ammo used this gun is my new very best friend, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one to anyone who fancies them.
I hope this helps anyone of you guys decide on whether or not to take the plunge. Especially at £495......it's an absolute bargain. So much better made and better metal than the the other GSG's, magazine apart.
I'm off to bed now for an early night, to give my new baby a cuddle.
Regards to all.

Cheers Chuck,
I love MiniMags and nearly always use them. In fact my old Jaeger AP84 (Galil looky liky) wont shoot anything else other than these and Blazers (yes...I do have 2 x .22lr semi auto's on my ticket). Which GSG5 have you got? My pal has the first one and has just found out its almost needing to be scrapped. The metal shrouding the breech has all cracked and broken up. wtfwtf

Anyway these new STG 44's are worth the wait, just a shame about the stupid mag.........and the box. The yanks get a loverly wood box made by the Amish sign01 .

Cerbera, I had an early one, it was imported from Germany by my RFD.. The standard sights were crud, always shot WAYY left..I fitted a BSA red Dot to it..and it was spot on after that.

Like you I also used CCI Blasers, they were quite punchy too - the missus was shooting knock downs at 100 yards with it at the Gareloch military range: 20/20 first time..25pdr was watching her, he can verify.

I sold it after a while due to other plans, but it was treated like a proper MP5 and I had no issues with it. For indoor fun it was the dogs bits.

My SGC V22 was also good but those magazines were a pain in the ass. Bob at SGC was brand new with me. I had one bigger issue with the V22, can't recall what- and he fitted a new upper no problem.

If I was buying now I'd go for the Sig .22LR cos I like Sigs..
