Thanks again. Is the buy figure usually lower than the hold? I would have thought so.

If you reload make sure you tell them you need to produce accurate ammo in batches hence the need to hold more at once.

I won't be reloading initially but thanks.

While I'm here, any suggestions for gun cabinet dealers in the UK? Shotgun, Scoped AR (35") and maybe a .22 AR will be my eventual max holding.

Whoever you buy it from try and get them to install it for the price of the safe/delivery.

You want a cabinet for 3 guns, my advice would be to get a 7 gun cabinet. Without doubt you will end up wanting more!! I'm sure most on hear would concur. I bought a 7 gun but wish I'd gone for a bigger 10 or 14.
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

Think of how many guns you want in the next couple of years and buy a safe which can comfortably hold *double* that! Seriously.

I've got two Brattonsound cabinets, a 5 gun shotgun cab and a 7 gun extra deep as well as a separate B&Q safe on top for ammo. Wish I had bought the 7 gun initially and just bought a second one....

Thanks. There doesn't appear to be a great deal of space for ammo in these but I suppoose I could buy separate. Wish they'd put the d*mn specs in inches! ;)

My FEO laughed in my face when i showed him the lock top box in my cabinet that i was planning putting all the ammo i'd asked for in!  Ended up having to get a separate safe from B&Q for it.

500/600 is the Home Office recommendation for target shooting IIRC, but i don't know what it would be in NI

Yes it is; on the basis that you may still hold a few rounds when you go and buy some more. Makes sure you don't inadvertently exceed your 'hold' limit.

I had the same problem but managed to solve it with a separate ammo box.
