Re: How much notice to book a range?
I could be wrong but as the Ages Match finishes at lunchtime there are likely to be available markers in the afternoon.
Ring the Range Office 01483 797777 ext 152 first thing in the morning (like 7.45 onwards)

Having only shot with the club previously how do I go about booking a lane?
Re: How much notice to book a range?
As Karen says, ring first thing am, keep trying they won't answer the 'phone if the office is busy.
Email tonight <range.office@nra.org.uk> Subject <Urgent Booking Request>
Give your full name, membership number, contact number and ask for one lane at ? yards. AM or PM (You will be lucky to get a marker AM with the Ages match on.) Ask them if they will please conform with you by 'phone before ?am because you have a way to travel and don't want to waste the journey.
