That's a bit of bugger. Oh well, at least you're already a member of a club already. I'll let you know if I hear of any spaces coming up sooner.

Since my previous posts I've done a lot of research into AR-15's, and have now bought a second hand .22.

I want to get a .223 (probably new) and have been recommended Southern Gun Company, Lantac and Bradley Arms. I know nothing about any of them, can anybody point me in the direction of which is the best?

Don't forget the LMT option.

Yep, pretty much had the same decision to make myself and started off a thread asking that very question. This can turn into a bit of a slagging match so my advice is quite simple. Try all of them, if you can, and choose the one YOU like the best. They are all very good quality gun builders it just depends on what you prefer. Click on the below link for the thread I started a while ago.

Dave

Thanks Dave, I will have a read.

I did manage to get along to last weekends CSR match and had a brief chat with a few people. Most of them seemed to be shooting Bradleys, a few had SGC and I didn't see any Lantac. That's not to say there weren't any there, I just didn't see them. One chap even had what looked like an SA-80. tongueout

Cheers

I'm surprised! LMT (Lewis Machine and Tool) are generally regarded to be one of the top five AR-15 manufacturers in the world. See NWCP.

Thanks for the heads up, but think I will give them a miss. I've heard some not too good things about that company (NWCP, not LMT).

Because it was, it has an interesting history, I can't remember the details but not ex-UK mil IIRC. I was shooting that match I didn't see you maybe I was on the other detail.
I started with a SGC but now have one of the first batch of Bradley Arms AR-15's. The only advice I will offer is you need a flat top receiver (my SGC had a high top, one of the reasons it was sold on), you need the side cocking handle, you don't need to have a left hand cocking handle and you don't need a 20" heavy fluted barrel. If you were there on Sunday you will have seen nobody using the top charging handle to operate their rifle.

BTW I've shooting CSR since 2005
