Cruineas don't take on so.

This isn't about you, this debate has been going on for a long time even before the internet was in wide use.

As you can see from the debate as always there are differing views, some of us feel that correct terminology is important in handloading especially from a safety point of view others feel differently about that.

You didn't make up the misnomer you just picked it up as you went through your learning curve, hells teeth there are long time RFD's who should know better who advertise bullet heads for sale so that just perpetrates the usage of the words.

As always on forums like these it is just ewords in the ether and as such it is a very poor communication medium especially where emotion is involved. All we can do is say what we think on the forum and then readers will attach whatever value they wish to what is said. Having posted on an open forum then anything written is open to challenge and differing views and opinions, such is the nature of these places

The trick is to say your bit then let go and move on.

Your contribution here is just as valid and valuable as anyone else's. :good:

We are all ignorant, just about different things. ;)

Cruineas, I can only echo the words of the last two posters and it is not so long ago that Christel referred to them on this forum as heads which provoked a furore in thread, it is entirely down to upbringing and I strongly believe this is a regional thing as much as anything as the word head is used more so in some areas. To this day I tend to call them projectiles because the word bullet can be viewed in a couple of ways or more and it differentiates for the reader.

I would sincerely hope any comments in this thread were good natured and to this day I know of RFD's who advertise them as 'Heads'

ACTIONS speak louder than words. :shifty:

As long as safe practices are followed what does it matter what you call them. :run:

Firstly thank you for the last few posts. Has cleared up the issue nicely. I believed i was the cause of this debate, and as such felt it only appropriate to "step aside" to prevent future problems.

I have never been thin skinned, and in some cases "ignorantly" oblivious to subtle hints so i thought it best to post, and both clarify my position, and ask what the next step is.

To further clarify my situation. I live in Ireland, and reloading is still in it's infancy. The amount of people doing it is minimal, and there are times when i need as many varied, and different answers to questions that i may only find from people that have been doing it more than 2 years. I have shot, and still do shoot almost every form of gun from F-class rifle, shotgun, clays, hunting, rimfire benchrest, and fullbore/centrefire pistol. I would class myself as competent in all, but reloading is like learning a new sport and then trying to use it in conjunction with F-Class.

I have heard of bullets being called - bullets, heads, tips, tops, balls, pills, etc, etc. So it is not, and will not be uncommon to see me calling a single item by multiple names in the future.

I have taken no offence to any comments here. If any topic, thread, forum, site bothers me there is a great little button called "Power Off" on the computer that makes it all go away.

To sum up (thank goodness i hear you all say) i rarely ignore a situation hence my previous post asking was i the cause of this. Now that it has been cleared up, and i see from a couple of posts that it is a common enough event, i'll once again thank all for their comments, and continue to pester you with questions.

We are far more broadly educated: we specialise in being ignorant about almost everything. Indeed, we hold some of our strongest and most cherished opinions on subjects we know nothing about.

Well that's the thing about opinions, they're much like bums, everybody has one but there ain't no two the same.
