Share your TR140 load data

I would like to build a database of TR140 loads in different cartridges so if you can please share your TR140 loads including cartridge, bullet weight, primer, barrel length, OAL, measured velocity, ES, primer and general observations including if the load is considered to be accurate, hot etc. I do appreciate different loads will mean different things to different people so if you feel your loads are excessive then please comment accordingly. I am especially interested in .308 .303 and .223 however anything else is good as well tongueout

Right now any data is good.

Many thanks in advance.

Rifle #1
Steyr SSG-04 .308 Heavy Barrel (HB) 600 mm (23.6") 1:10 Twist
Sinclair F-Class Micro Adjustable Bipod

Load - Nosler Custom Competition or Hornady A-Max 168gr set at 12thou from lands
41gr
Produces 1/2MOA or better at 100yds

Rifle #2
Howa 1500 .308 Varmint Heavy Barrel (20") 1:10 Twist
Blackhawk Knoxx Axiom Stock with Winchester 6-12" Bipod

Load - Nosler Custom Competition or Hornady A-Max 168gr set at 2.8" (Magazine limit)
41gr
Produces 1.5 MOA at 100yds
Will produce smaller groups but needs a better Bipod (and/or shooter!).

Both rifles tried at 37 to 42gr in 1gr steps, best results with both at 41gr, N140 was best at 40gr.

TR140 LEARNING CURVE

I loaded up my first batch of FMJ ammo for my 8mm Lebel Model 1892 Berthier Artillery Carbine, using TR140 powder.
My start load was 38gn of TR140 behind a 198gn FMJ bullet and standard L/R primers.

All I got was scorched powder and the bullet stuck 6" up the barrel, I switched to Federal magnum primers and the problem was solved, perfect ignition every time.

Any one else had similar ignition experiences with TR140?

No problem with standard CCI or Magtech large rifle primers.

Firearm: Swing Mk. III with 30" 1/13" twist 0.298x0.3065 Bartlein barrel
Primer: Remington 9 1/2
Case: RUAG once fired
Bullet: Sierra 2156 (new style) Palma Matchking loaded to 40 thou jump

Load Velocity SD ES
45.0grn 2948fps 14 35
45.5grn 2973fps 17 43
46.0grn 2990fps 17 43
46.5grn 3018fps 10 26

None of the loads showed any obvious signs of excess pressure (see Dromia's excellent post on same) but I wasn't happy with the ED and SD values, so I'll be retrying with Federal 210 match primers. Absolutely no hint of a problem with ignition.

Cheers,

Gaz

As it's very close to N140 I'd go with the Vhit load data but start at -1gr so (for a .308) 36 to 45 in 1gr steps and checking for pressure signs from 42gr and upwards, I find the A-Max 168s almost identical in grouping compared to the Lapua Scenar or Nosler CC with regard to charge weight, that is they all group better around the same point, for me 41 to 42gr.

I have tried 155 amax with TR 140 using 46gr it gave pleasing results out to 600 but never managed to use them at longer ranges.
Generally I use nosler custom comp bullets again with 46gr TR140. Loaded to a C.O.L. Of 2.870" in my AW, good for 1000yds
