K22 - modding the moderator

24" and less, a place to discuss all things handgun related, section 7.3. Long barrelled revolvers, long barrelled pistols and section 5. Overseas contributions are more than welcome.

K22 - modding the moderator

#1 Post by daman »

I have the K22 Whisper LBP.

The moderator ('suppressor'/'silencer') is essentially just a can that screws over the 12in barrel.

The barrel itself is fluted and ported with several holes in the last third of each flute.

As the 'can' has no baffles at all I'm wondering if it could be made more effective - in terms of noise reduction - by filling or part filling it with exhaust silencer packing or similar.

Any one tried this?

Thoughts, good idea? bad idea?

if you pack the can too much the air/noise will just come out the end of the barrel.
The filling needs to be loose enough to dissipate the flow so that it can move within the can.
Just my thoughts on it, I could be totally wrong :-)

I read somewhere that woven wire mesh can be used in place of baffles. Haven't tried it though.

I made my own suppressor - titanium mostly.

Have some material left over........... baffles ( some drilled, some blank, titanium tubing and titanium caps )

I can sell you some if you want to experiment.

In another country, in another time, I used pot scourers as can packing, but also made up a neoprene disc with an X cut into it as a muzzle wipe.
