Winchester 1894 carrier run

I have yet another broken carrier to deal with on a mid 80's Winchester 1894C and no spares readily to hand so I am planning on making a handful. This will be a one off run and only for the .357mag/.38Spl so if there is anyone interested in one or a couple as a spare?

Price will be based on how many people would like keep their Winchester running as I will be making half a dozen for myself :)

I cannot think of any reason why it would be different, it is the same receiver body and bolt however you never know...

This is the problem with Winchester 1894's they seem to have subtle and not so subtle variances when it comes to the internals. I would be building to suit the 1894 AE .357Mag with the later sintered carrier as they are the ones that seem to break and are never available unless you are actually in the USofA

Mines a 357 but it chambers 38 special with out any issues if they are the same I will take two of your hands. My carrier is the one that all ways breaks I shouldn't of written that you can guarantee the next time I use it the damn thing will break. I hope you are going to make them out of proper metal not monkey metal like the original.

316 Stainless springs to mind however I have a lump of Titanium that would do half a dozen or so :)

Titanium (gulp) I'm guessing expensive. 316 sounds good. How difficult is titanium to machine. We have had some mini reactors made up in titanium to check for materials of construction to be used in distillation columns re boilers using weird and exotic chemical brews. After we have tested them we chop them up section them inspect then bin them. We have tested some really exotic and expensive metals.

Any way back on track yes shell lifters go for it.

Titanium is a bit odd, it seems to be great with a new tool however when the tool goes it goes quickly and I use a special lubricant for it. I am just about to machine some mandrels from Titanium (Grade 12) Mostly because the round is sitting on my desk and it will be interesting to see how it works for temporary tooling.
