UKPSA have issued a statement,

https://www.ukpsa.co.uk/news/smith-wess ... ety-alert/

TL:DR, can;t use a 15-22 at a UKPSA match until its been checked, can't check them for a fortnight or more, as the only gauges to check with are at S&W in the states and they won't post them direct to people in the UK.

Surely somebody knows someone in the US with a gauge, and can get an accurate measurement for one??

They're only a flat piece of metal the thickness of a .22rf rim...

Looking at the S&W video, it strikes me that the depth of the recess is something anyone with a set of vernier callipers could measure very easily.
SAAMI gives the .22 LR rim thickness as 0.043 to 0.051"

I suppose thats a quick check you can make.. take the bolt out and put a .22 round in the recess. Looking across it you shouldn't be able to see the rim.

I have posted on a US shooting forum about the recall, and asked if anyone has a gauge and could they measure it for me...

As Triffid says this can be determined very simply without the need for the special gauge.

From S+W's web site http://www.smith-wesson.com/sites/defau ... 030619.pdf
Arming the Country, one gun at a time.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.

All we need is the thickness of the gauge or somehow find the thickness of the 22LR rim.

Also from the manufacturer's website;

I have just found out it is, apologies for the false footing.

Having put 10k+ rounds per year through my gun for the last 3-4 years, and measuring the recess depth to be within the SAAMI spec i'm 100% confident that there isn't an issue with my rifle. The problem is however that the UKSPA and seemingly some gun clubs have slapped a ban on their use until they are 'checked'. 8-)

S&W are notorious for not sending out parts to even their US customers (they normally require their whole rifle to be sent to them if there's an issue) and barely even acknowledge their overseas markets. Supposedly SGC is getting back to some people tomorrow/Wednesday with regard to the gauges but i'm not holding my breath for S&W to supply anything.

Good excuse to dust off my MP5 i suppose teanews

We are just waiting for the specifications of the tool, its easy enough to measure with a a vernier or micro feeler guages.

We've checked all of ours, all are on the list and all are over a minimum 0.044"

Sportsman are awaiting boss to come back before doing anything but there are a few places who have gone loonie tunes and banned them, massive over reaction.
