Optic Questions

#1 Post by Hixus »

I’ve been looking at getting a scope and it’s all a bit confusing. Two I’ve been looking at, by notation I understand they are different but in reality I can get to grips with it. For me personally it will be for target shooting distance.

Here’s an example I’ve been recommended to look at 5-25x50 FFP EBR-2c(Moa) which just looks like a bunch of numbers to me, whilst another scope I was looking at used is 6–24x50 SFP.

What does it all mean?

Cheers

The numbers, ie 5-25x50, are the magnification (bowl-25x) and the 50 is the size of the objective lens in mm and EBR-2c is the type of reticle the scope has.

This explains the difference between FFP and SFP scopes......

Thanks man I checked out the link which cleared the ffp and sfp up .

Would I notice a great deal difference between a 5-25 and a 6-24?

In the same brand with same glass, you would find pretty much no difference between those magnifications.

This can be from 25yds to 1000yds+. If you know the discipline and distances you want to shoot you might want something a bit lower in mag range. High mag is great if you are off a bipod all day long but can be a pain if you need to quickly find a small target at 100, or even 25yds, whilst standing.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.
