Hi gang.

I am new to this forum. I have been shooting full bore for many years on ranges and over land for pest control. Recently I have found myself target shooting pistols at home and really enjoy it. I am now thinking of getting a black powder revolver for target shooting. My aim is to shoot targets on the land I have permission to shoot. Dose any one know if the fire arms licensing allow the use of black powder pistols to be used over land for target shooting. Thanks for any help provided.

Not sure if there's anything preventing you getting one for use on your own land; some people have them conditioned for Humane dispatch of injured animals, not sure about target use. Where target shooting & zeroing on your own land merge I don't know!

I have seen one being used at a range before but not sure on what was needed to use it. I can't imagine there would be a problem if the land you are using it on is safe.

It will be difficult to get it for target shooting over your land.
Maybe for zeroing if you have some humane dispatch condition but that's not target shooting. Target shooting will require membership of a target shooting club and range use.

I doubt you will get it for target shooting over land.

I thought target shooting had to be done at a Home Office approved club/range.

Not quite. The licensing conditions have changed for most people now. You have to be a member of a club but the range requirements have changed, I’m sure one of our more legally experienced members can elaborate.
