I drive a 40 mile round trip as I prefer to shoot on an outdoor range and shoot free pistol at 50 meters. There is an indoor 25 meter range 2 miles away and I have shot there a number of times but I just don't enjoy it so much so am happy to drive for what I want.

Their site looks incredible, and their PSG is spot on.

Suggest you approach one (or more) of the clubs that utilise the Altcar range complex at Formby. This is an excellent facility and is just up the road from you. Some clubs use the range twice a month and shoot at anything from 100 to 600 yards. 1000 yards is available in the summer months. If you care to pm me, I can give you the details of such a club .

I agree this as an option. Off the top of my head with club houses there is:

101
Altcar
Formby
Southport District

Fairly sure there are more that I can't remember, plus the multitude of clubs that operate out of their car boots rather than huts.
I also believe there is a 1000 yards shoot there next week, so not just summer months.

About 50yards to an indoor 30m range and 1mile to an outdoor range, 75 minutes to Bisley. Furthest I've travelled in the UK is c550miles to Warcop or Bodmin.
Arming the Country, one gun at a time.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.

35mins to outdoor range
20mins for local PSG

Less than half a mile for me to the 25yrd indoor and 100yrd outdoor fullbore range. Could probably walk if I felt like it.

I get jelous standing in my back garden hearing the sound of the outdoor range when I'm not there

ETA I missed off my favourite range.
It's a wee bit out of the way but the nearest place where it's easy to shoot more interesting stuff, so the 11,200 mile round trip trip is worth every minute: http://www.ziarifleandpistolclub.com/

I arrived back on Wednesday after three weeks out there. :D

Around 14 miles to my nearest range, maybe 3 miles to shoot overland. I also occasionally shoot at Barton Road which is probably 230 miles round trip although it is Duey who drives :)
