A man and his dog

#1 Post by Ovenpaa »

Not connected, a plane flew overhead a couple of Fridays ago. It was the silver Spitfire that flies out of Humberside and the person with me admitted he did not know what it was.
Anyway, the picture. Rather good I think.

Yes. Shame the PC brigade can't let well-enough alone.

Salvage Hunters: The Restorers .

Blacksmith Nev is challenged to restore a German aircraft propeller from the Second World War.

This propeller was from a Heinkell 111 shot down by Guy Gibson .

This is Guy Gibson VC of 617 Squadron with his black Labrador, whose name has been scrubbed from history.

Regardless of that, I thought it was a good picture.

Thought Guy Gibson was a bomber pilot so would be unlikely to shoot down a Heinkel.

If you think you are a person of some importance, try ordering someone else's dog around.

He was credited with a Heinkel He-111 kill whilst flying a Bristol Beaufighter I believe.

Personally I never liked Nigger as the name for his dog, always thought Golliwog was far better.

When I moved here 20 years ago I was told by a member of the older generation that the word nigger was most definitely acceptable when talking about a colour, he even showed me a book where the dark brown colour was described by the word nigger.

See, the older generation very likely never thought anything bad about that word.

That is a good looking Labrador.

He was a Mosquito man amongst other planes and I have a feeling he was credited with a possible as well. Dornier maybe?
