A mix of CSR & IDPA/IPSC : Skiing or running around a large plot of land with a glock & an AK to shoot from various positions at a combination of different targets while trying to find the odd hidden 12 gauge or bolt action depending on the distances to knock down some steel would be my nearly perfekt idea of a fun discipline.
Want to shoot pistol ? Don't retreat... reload & run forward !!

When I lived in the U.S my local range used to have historic two gun matches, using only pre-1945 firearms. We only had two divisions, divided between bolt action rifles and semi autos, and it was all quite informal, but shooting a practical match with a Garand and a P38 was huge fun. Over here in NI it might actually feasible to do with bolt action rifles and pistols.

To give you a rough idea, this is they type of thing it involved.

All the disciplines mentioned on the list - with the exception of pistol (for obvious reasons) are available to UK shooters - in fact, virtually all of them at my home club.

So, when shooters tick what they would like to shoot - why don't they just go and shoot it?

I'd guess time and money constraints would be the biggest hurdle. After that it would be finding a club that did it AND let people have a taster/trial run.

Time and money issue can be lessoned by finding a local club, or sometimes just helping out at other local clubs where you're not even a member to support them if they're willing to put on an event in your chosen discipline. Spent 11 hours doing that yesterday, but as it's only 40 minutes each way to get there a lot easier than 7 hour roundtrips going south as done before.

Only shooting up to 100m at present but certainly within the next couple of years I aim to try over 600m to see how I get on.
