44/40 and fac

#1 Post by mag41uk »

Having just sold a rifle about to try for a 1 4 1 as I would like to get a Uberti 1873.
I realize the ultimate answer will be via licensing but those who have them did you buy them with a variation for a 44?

Can't fault your choice of a Uberti 1873 - I adore mine cheers

Ex-member of our club had his original 1903 made 1873 under a .44WCF slot on his FAC.

44WCF is the correct, original factory name for 44-40.

Why don't you just ask for 44-40 if that's what you intend to buy ?. Or am I missing something

.44-40 is what mine is listed as. Even though I've had a load of interest mine still remains for sale in classifieds...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Not missing any thing.
In my mind I thought a variation for just a 44 would suffice as that is the caliber whereas 44-40 would be the final cartridge.

Your interpretation is correct .44 is all you need. They require the calibre not the cartridge it is chambered for.

However as most firearms certification departments "policies" are works of fiction it is always better to get their take on it.
