Cheap Chinese bore scope - I'm impressed

#1 Post by 1066 »

I have just received a cheap Chinese borescope, and I must say, I'm really pleased.

For less that £50 from Amazon I think it's great value - It took around a week to arrive. It plugs into your PC/Laptop USB port or most android phones and tablets.

The diameter is just less than .2 including a focusable right angle mirror and has adjustable illumination.

Image quality is good.

Yep - an excellent bit of kit. I have a Hawkeye but I've bought one of these.

We see lots of barrel cleaning methods expounded on the Forum but, a borescope is the only way to really know if your cleaning regime works.

At the moment, these borescopes are dirt cheap but I suspect someone will soon cotton-on and the price will rocket.

My local dealer reckons a bore scope is a great way to buy a rifle, but a terrible method for selling one!! lol
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

This borescope at this link is fulfilled by Amazon and available with next day delivery.

It looks the same. It sounds the same from the description. It's the same price. I'll let you know if it *is* the same tomorrow.

1066 - thanks for the link! goodjob

I've bought a couple of "borescopes" which turned out to be too wide for my .22's, but this looks perfect. The only question now is ....... do I have the nerve to actually use it when it arrives! :o lol

Very pleased with this budget bore-scope.
Especially interesting to see which cleaning products and processes are a complete waste of time.

The video below captures the before and after cleaning conditions (the cleaning processes are listed below).
'Before cleaning' runs from 0:00 to 1:43 (it starts to get dirty from about 0:45). 1:43 onwards is after cleaning.

Patch out with Ed's Red
Phosphor Bronze with Ed's Red.
Phosphor Bronze with VMS No 9.
2 x C2R copper cleans.
1 x Bore-Tech Carbon Cleaner.
1 x JB Bore Paste.
1 x Bore-Tech Copper Solvent.
