Personally, I put the not allowing quals is nothing more than military BS. We have lad in one of our clubs who on a Saturday was running running the ranges for cadets on Sunday would never be allowed to for the club!
Pointless BS and too many throbbers with axes to grind is why I left! And evidently it’s still rife....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!
All these access issues and regulations are all part of the same thing the Military do not want civilians using their ranges and we have no way of altering that view, I give it two years at most and there will be no civilian shooting on MoD ranges. Even if they don't make a complete ban then the ranges will be not fit for the needs of civilian shooters. SARTS used as knock downs only and manned by Landmarc staff may be all that is left, this shooting becomes boring very quickly and costs arms, legs and major organs.

There was a submission to the Cullen Inquiry by a General Wheeler, I think, who was head of Army training. In it he stated had it not been for the advances in pistol shooting, particularly around IPSC, UKSF would have been at a massive disadvantage with this weapon system. I have it somewhere, I’ll look it up.
Some of those “Cake Eaters” in Whitehall need to be reminded that some of the spectacular results in Iraq and Afghanistan began on the ranges with civilians....
Throbbers.

The MOD ranges currently available to Gun Clubs in the Norh East are rubbish and expensive rubbish at that. Its about time the North East Clubs started talking to each other and make a joint effort to secure a range of there own and sticking there finger up to the MOD.
I book two fullbore ranges a month average price £450 thats £900 per month multiply that by all the other North East Clubs thats a tidy sum. We should be using that money to finance our own range.

It would be good if we could get a range shared between the 2 clubs. Nearly £11000 a year currently spent for 2 clubs to shoot , you would think we could get a range for that price somewhere. Even better if there were more clubs to chip in for our own private joint club full bore range.

Depends on the range to be honest, a couple of examples are G Range at Sennybridge that goes out to 350yds, F Range is 1600yds and J3a Range is 1000yds.
G and F Ranges have multiple targets that start at around 50m out from the firing point and go out further from there out to the maximum range.
