Importing a Sten Gun

Hi all,

I have always wanted a deactivated Sten as a wall-hanger.

I see that UK deactivation laws have changed and everything is now butchered, cut, welded, pinned etc. and to pay £400+ for a Sten in this condition seems a bit... yeah...

I have seen that Zib Militaria sell 'free part sets' where they remove barrels, bolts etc. and they have a sale where a Sten is only £199.

Could one of these kits be imported and a rod plonked in it to look like a barrel? Or would it need to be a complete, deactivated Sten?

Unless anyone has a Sten laying around that they want to sell me?

James

From Zibs website.....

"There is also no shipping of free part sets to Poland, Holland, Danmark, UK and Sweden. If you come from these countries please do not order any free part set"

A lot of those "free weapons sets" they have listed still have functional full auto/select fire receivers etc that would be enough to get you a spell as Mr Bigs Tuesday boy for a number of years.......

Wouldn't you need a valid defence for the Denix (collecting isn't one)? Although in reality would anyone care?

Ah... I missed that bit! Thanks guys.

And yeah, anything that isn't a deact that looks like a firearm needs a VCRA registration/exemption.

So you can't buy a toy that looks like a gun but never was one, but you can buy a gun that was actually a gun...

Bizarre.

Just to add to this, you need to make sure you buy a deac that conforms the latest standard, as all previous standard deacs are effectively grandfatherd and prohibited from sale within the EU.

Shop about, some are much better than others.
