Doctors charging

#1 Post by Dahonis »

Just had a letter from my surgery to state they are to start charging £15.00 for a letter for a FAC renewal. They are also going to charge £75.00 for a brand new FAC application.

My last FAC renewal took 3 letters and a phone call from my Doctor!

No don't pay. This seems to be a real problem recently with quite a few organisations fighting our corner and stating that a GP can not charge for this. Countrywide Alliance, BASC and a few of the regular Shooting mags have all mentioned this.

My GP charges £20 for any letter. My Autistic son has just submitted his application (for the 3rd time) and we've been asked to provide a letter this time.

Weird, i'm also covered by Durham and recently did my SGC renewal and that doctor carry on wasn't even mentioned. Unless they just went straight to my GP and they did it for free?

Did you disclose any conditions on the application form? If not, and you don't have anything they aren't already aware of i'd just go with the above and not pay.

To put this into perspective, my wife and I were charged £150 each by our GP for the ticking of a form when we became foster parents...

There’s actually a price list in the surgery. Passports are £25, PSV and HGV £95. FACs aren’t listed yet, but the charging structure is already established in my surgery.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Not in Gloucestershire. They told a RFD/Club Secretarys' meeting that they wait 28 days for a reply and then just proceed anyway.

I believe that’s the policy because of those GPs who may object on conscientious grounds....

Ironic when considering that a GP, Shipman, probably killed several times more people than all of the spree shooters in the UK, did collectively.
