Czech Range October

#1 Post by froggy »

Salut,

Last WE I survived the terrible storm that battered Central Europe and was spending sunday at the range in Czech Rep. Countless trees on the roads, couple down at the range, biblical scale rain and even hail ... Not the best conditions, but that did not deter the guys shooting next to me to bring nice toys :

As usual, seeing my interests in their arsenal, and maybe appreciating my efforts to speak their language, those huys were mega friendly & very happy to let me have a go. Sadly they had ran out of 7,92x57... I return the favour with what I had, and they pretended to be happy shooting the omega trigger of my pistol wtf . What a great country O:-)

I was far more modest and was drilling "Conceal Carry" de-holstering & reactive defence shooting mainly with my CZ P01 but also a Glock 26. I had tried one in the US previously but never had the chance to properly shoot one before. That little short thing was highly shootable and despite the stupidly short sight radius well capable of head shots at 20 meters . Like any glock it is not a forgiving pistol and even more than the giggest 17 brother one needs to get the fundamentals rights to make the most of the pistol. I had 2 mags to play with , one of them with an extension that make the gun much more stable in hand and therefore easier to use in short stress reaction time.
Now, that Glock is very short but still quite bulky, so , not that it will ever happen but if we were ever allowed to carry, I'd probably still pick my single stack Makarov.

By then the sky had turn virtually black and when the horredous weather conditions forced me to cover, I could not help a bit of "alte Schule" from the much welkomed roof's protection with this P1 (alloy frame BW version of the P38).

That the usual place Froggy? It was pretty horrible weather to be flying in, hope you didn't get too shaken not stirred.

Cool MG42, was it still open bolt semi-auto?

For the Glock 26 the Pierce grip extension gives just enough to get a full grip. Not expensive either.

Dunno about the MG, by the time I arrived after being delayed by various trees on the motoways, they had already run out of ammo and sadly did not get a change to have a little play

The next Static shooting WE will be on the 21/22 of April - the above web site will tell more about the set-up and the costs . Due to the wishes expressed by the group I am organising the WE for, the emphasis on the saturday will be on WW2, Cold War and historical weapons.

2 further trips are planned in June :
- One will be a beginners dynamic pistol class,
- the other will be a more advanced with a lot of practical parcour training.

If it is Static shoot they are after, just tell me the dates, how participants & their guns preferences and I'll gladly make it happen for you ;)
