She still has rifling left but it is frosty which isn’t surprising given the less than perfect storage and her advanced years....the amount of muck that came out was unreal, it may improve once it’s had a few shot/cleaned cycles.

Holy cow, what a transformation! Great work. I read through the Gunboards thread too along with the pictures. A very tasteful clean and preserve rather than a "restore". I love that there's a patina left in the stock and the pitting on the metal, helps remind you the age of the rifle. I'm eager to hear your range report and hopefully a few dozen rounds can loosen up some crud in the bore.

Reading through the Gunboards thread, boiling water down the spout isn't a bad idea. My M24 was slathered with something on the inside (even though it was previously shot, rather than being stored in cosmoline), it was interesting seeing all the gunk come out with repeated hot water pours down the bore. It goes without saying, but make sure everything is dry after doing this.
