1955 Lee Enfield No4 Mk2 Unboxing

#1 Post by WelshShooter »

Found this video on YouTube today and thought it would be good to share on here. The video features the unwrapping of a pristine, never opened 1955 Lee Enfield No4 Mk2. The rifle looks like it just rolled off the assembly line after the owner cleaned it all up.

Has anybody here ever had the privilege of unwrapping an unissued milsurp rifle?

I also watched this today, found it whilst looking for a dinosaur clip for my grandson. found the preservation methods used quite amazing, hard to believe this gun was over sixty years old. Looked like new. What a prize for the owner.

That fellow is far more patient than I would be. Fortunately (or unfortunately - depending upon point of view) when I got mine, some dealer had already cleaned it and I did not have to.

I have one as well which I bought new. My first full bore rifle.
It too had already been cleaned.
I managed to find a long beech butt too which improved it immensely for me.
Its had many rounds through it - a mix of fmj and cast - and it still shoots well.
It was nice to see what it would have looked like in its stored state.

Not an unissued rifle but my '39 Izhevsk 91/30 was still covered (inside and out!) in thick Soviet cosmoline and waxed paper from decades of long-term storage when I got it, it took an absolute age to clean it off and despite thorough cleaning it still gave up more if the stock got hot enough from firing!.

I already had seen it.
Disappointing he only used it with 150gr Federal ammo and only at 25 yards
Purveyor of fine cast boolits.
All round good guy and VERY grumpy old man.
