Well, here it is. Norwegian refurb k98 in 30.06 - High turret mounts with early 1950s Pecar scope to shoot in NRA pre 1955 matches.
The scope swings off so I can use in in iron sight matches too.

Zeroed it today - 20mph wind so not ideal but I was managing 3 to 4" groups at 100 yards, supported at a bench.froggy wrote:Nice

Looks good!
I've got a yugo m48 which I'll eventually scope. Did you solder the bases on or just screw?

I screwed........... but with more than usual.Andy RV wrote:Looks good!

In addition to the 2 on the front mount, I went with 2 more ( thicker screws ) inside the turret.
And on the rear mount, 1 extra screw.
I figure that should be enough to cope with the 30-06
Incidentally, the soldering was done in a time when scopes were steel so they were dealing with more weight - my scope is not nearly as heavy as a WW2 steel scope.

Where did you source the high turrets from?breacher wrote:Well, here it is. Norwegian refurb k98 in 30.06 - High turret mounts with early 1950s Pecar scope to shoot in NRA pre 1955 matches.

Going to put in for a variation for 30-06 I think, and try and find one of these myself, as I'm struggling with my aging eyes to shoot with iron battle sights now, so finding my Lee-Enfield No.5 isn't getting as much range time now, and thus a tuned and scoped K98 would make a nice stablemate to my original 4T.

This is about as unauthentic as they come, FN Mauser M1930, Pecar 6x45, HT Rings and Prototype CG Trigger. I am planning on swapping the stock to a K98 at some point as it has the bolt handle cut out plus the current stock has been sanded out to oblivion at some point.

Still nice though and pretty much still fits the NRA pre 1955 template ?Ovenpaa wrote:This is about as unauthentic as they come, FN Mauser M1930, Pecar 6x45, HT Rings and Prototype CG Trigger.
