Princess Mary 1914 .303 pencil

#1 Post by Alpha1 »

In 1914 Princess Mary donated a cool tin to the troops that contained a .303 pencil.
My main Club works with help for heroes they have a purpose built rehabilitation centre in Catterick Garrison. They asked if we would donate a range day for Auction. The two guys who won the auction are due to join us on the range as guests.
I thought it would be cool if they had something to take away from the day as a reminder of the days event.
So I recreated the .303 pencil and hand made a couple of .308 bullet pens for the guys. I thought they deserved it after paying £1500.00 for the privilege of shooting with us.

They look brilliant, fair play! The 7x57mm Mauser and 6.5x54 Mannlicher are some calibres I recall which had a round nose bullet in them. I think making pens/pencils in those calibres would look really authentic given the round nose of the sleeve you have made.

Lovely work! These look very cool and it's awesome that you've gone above and beyond for these guys that have donated their money to a good cause!
