RCBS Lube-a-Matic

#1 Post by Ovenpaa »

I have just acquired an RCBS Lube-a-Matic without any dies. Are they worth hanging on to or should I throw it in the bin?

I am missing a couple of parts, is there a good source of spares here in the UK, the parts are related to the pressure screw and cap and are probably easy enough to make if I knew what they were.

CDSG do spare parts. There's a part schematic here:

Or try RCBS in the US, they sent me some small parts FOC for my press, which I had bought secondhand. :good:

Email RCBS, they will send you out the required parts, free of charge.

Like Dromia I also have three and if I were to sell any of my lubesizers it would be my three Lymans

I just stripped it down over a cup of coffee and I am not sure anything is missing. This is the original as opposed to the mk2 and I assume all it has on the reservoir is a threaded rod and a piston with two O rings and a spanner is used to adjust the pressure of the lube. The later ones have a tommy bar system which makes sense and no doubt this one could be so modified if I felt so inclined.

The older Lubamatics use a Chapman wrench like the Lymans, far superior to the money shaving cross piece with the plastic balls that continually fall off brought in on the "improved" LAM2.

The flats across the screw on mine are mangled so I will sort it out one lunchtime so I can use it. I really do need to reorganise my reloading area as I have a couple of presses that have been moved and not yet bolted down yet. Something for the darker months :)
