RCBS hand prime

#1 Post by Sim G »

After 20 years and thousands of rounds, my original Lee hand prime broke. Got a new one a year ago or so, and it's sh1t! Thinking of replacing it with a RCBS hand prime, but the question is for anyone that's got one... Can my existing shell holders, either Lee autoprime or Lee universal, be used on the RCBS hand prime or is it a case that I'll have to buy a wagon load of tool specific shell holders as well?

Thanks.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

The newer RCBS hand primer has a self adjusting holder if I’m not mistaken. No need for separate shellholders

RCBS have a hand primer called the "RCBS Universal Hand Priming Tool" (see http://rcbs.com/Products/Priming/Tools/ ... -Tool.aspx). This eliminates the need for shell holders at all and I've found it very good (though I have limited experience with alternatives). You do have to mess about with it a bit to convert between large primer seating and small primer seating though.

My usual online retailers (McAvoy Guns, Dauntsey Guns and Sportsman Gun Centre) all stock it.
