This thread has got me confused (but tbf it's not that difficult lol)
Can one use nitro in a bp revolver if shotgun primers are used?. I have always been told that a bp gun needs re-proofing for nitro and a big bill for conversion.
I've got a Euro Rogers & Spencer and would like to use nitro if possible.

No don't use nitro in a blackpowder proofed cylinder, you'll need to get an expensive nitro proofed cylinder for your gun.

My original post was to do with using 209 shotgun primers with the blackpowder as I have 1,000's of the things.

Check out Derek @ Anvil Arms - He converts Remington 858 to use Nitro - New Proofed cycling race. I have one just ordered a Second for Cowboy Action Shooting.
Beautiful revolver and shooting really well. Easy to load and even easier to shoot.

Best investment I have to mimic a real revolver
Remington .44 1858 (Nitro) 5.5" x2
Cattlemen .44 1873 (Nitro) 5.5" x2
Ruger .45 OA 5.5" x2
Marlin 1894CSS JM Marked
Uberti Winchester 1873 20"
Huglu 12g Coach Gun
1897 Winchester 12g

The humorous answer is yes but only once. You will then need to replace the cylinder, most of the frame, your hand and be given a guide dog.

I think you get the idea.

Nelly2014, just curious.

If you wanted to shoot smokeless in a revolver why did you buy a black powder one?

Anyone advise you on the purchase?
