Magload K22 Magazine

#1 Post by MrD »

Hi
has anyone used these 17rnd mags or used the kit to extend existing 10 rnd mags? I bought two of the 17 ones and have put 70+ through each. Both seem to have very strong springs, I struggled to get 15 rnds in, let alone 17. Each time the slide didn't seem to close properly on 15rnds, worked better with only 10. Maybe they need some internal smoothing/lubing or just plain using. Feel a bit let down that at £45 each approx. they don't function as I'd want.
Just thought I'd ask in case I have got a couple of duffers.
Cheers
Donald

I got a pair of the very first ones and they worked fine. My only issue was the screws to hold the baseplate meant they wouldn't work with my magwell, so flogged them on.
I use the 19 round baseplate mags from CCA, they don't hold open, whereas the 17 round mags did.

Yes, the springs are strong, I miss the little tab you could pull down on in the originals.

I had one mag where I could only get 15 to fit (the others worked, just took an effort to get the last round in.)

I left the troublesome one loaded with 15 rounds for a few weeks, fired the rounds and was able to reload it with 17 ever since.

Persevere and all might be ok. Alternatively a little judicious spring trimming might be needed?

I have CCA 19rnd ones and find the lack of hold open a PITA. However, I might have gone for them again if CCA hadn't seemed to have disappeared. I know of two friends who have been trying to buy K22s since June and can't get an answer to repeated phone calls or emails.
Will see if anyone else comments before tinkering/returning them

I'll maybe try leaving them loaded and see. I found a riser from a set of in trays which fits neatly through the hole in place of the button. It also makes a good drift to remove balls from a BP revolver cylinder!

As said, they are very stiff once you get past 13 or 14 rounds.

The answer is to buy one of these:

There's just one K22 on Guntrader, so they are in short supply. Why that is I have no idea.
For anything K22 related I would contact Mark Derbyshire, he sorted a light strike issue I had and tuned my K22.
