Re: Red Oktober
snayperskaya over the years I have owned two AK47's and an SKS all of which have had many hundreds of rounds through them. I didn't think they were anything special then and I still don't think they're anything special now. Yet some people rave about them like the are the holy grail of guns.
I have nothing against AK's as they are, it's the hype that I find amusing. Been buried for 18 years and still works! Big deal! Six .303 Browning machine guns from a Spitfire buried for 70 years and after being cleaned up, still fire. The internet and forums are full of guns that have been buried, lost or forgotten for years. Later found, then cleaned or restored and still shoot fine. Nearly any firearm is capable of surviving being buried for years, all it takes is the right environmental conditions. Yet some AK owners go on like only an AK could survive being buried for a week let alone years.
That's bollox.
Anyway look, I was just having a bit of fun, certainly didn't expect rattles flying out the prams. So I promise not to make any more nasty comments about AK's.

Mmmm I don't know , both yourself and polemass seemed a little miffed Froggy seemed to be about the only one who saw it for what is was and entered into the spirit of things
Look we both know the AK is no tack driver, I went with it and had a little fun. It was a wind up, nothing more, no offence was intended
Hey c'mon... the barn doors picture, that was a good un clapclap

Hmmmmm the fact that you use a photo of Putin in an attempt at humour is a little worrying in itself.
No actually I didn't miss your signature, in fact I recall thinking a while back that if you think "barndoorsmatter", then your collection of former sov bloc rifles is understandable

Re: Red Oktober
AK's and AR15's are rubbish. The newer budget Remington 700 with the triangular barrel is the only decent rifle.
Re: Red Oktober
safetyfirst that'll be the Remmy 700 VTR you're referring to. Having never shot one I guess it's a case of if you say so.
Re: Red Oktober
I shot one in .223 a long while ago, it was reasonable however that was only with factory ammunition at 100m. I seem to remember it had a a muzzle brake machined in as standard and looked OK for it.
Re: Red Oktober
I read this a year or two back and after a short search found it again. It's interesting.
